Thrive Causemetics Review: What Are The Best Products?
Prior to composing this review, I conducted a brief evaluation of Thrive Causemetics' mascara. However, since then, I have experimented with multiple products from Thrive Causemetics and feel compelled to share my thoughts.
For those who may not be familiar with Thrive Causemetics (which is quite surprising considering the frequency of their advertisements on platforms like Facebook and Instagram), it is a beauty brand that prides itself on being vegan, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and sulfates. Additionally, the brand is committed to giving back with every purchase.
It is important to note that, at the time of writing this review, Thrive Causemetics does not offer an affiliate program. Therefore, I have personally purchased all the items mentioned in this review and do not stand to gain any profit from either writing this review or your potential purchases from the brand.
Although I had seen numerous advertisements for Thrive Causemetics, it was ultimately the recommendations and enthusiasm from WO2 readers like yourself that motivated me to give the brand a try. I initially started with their mascara, known as Liquid Lash Extensions, and was so impressed that I subsequently ordered several other products. Below, you will find my comprehensive review of Thrive Causemetics.
Thrive Causemetics Review of the Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara
A few years back, I began to notice a persistent issue with my mascara - it would always smudge under my eyes, regardless of what I did. Frustrated, I voiced my concerns about this problem while in the bathroom at a concert. Surprisingly, another woman explained that as we age, the loss of fullness under our eyes can affect how our lashes rest, leading to smudging.
To tackle this issue, I turned to waterproof mascara, which did solve the smudging problem. However, I soon discovered that using waterproof mascara made my lashes brittle and prone to occasional breakage. Determined to find a solution, I conducted some research and came across tubing mascara. Excited to try it out, I experimented with various brands and eventually found that Thrive Causemetics offered the best results in terms of length, volume, and overall impact.
If you happened to read my review and purchased a tube of this mascara but didn't find it to your liking, please know that you're not alone. The mascara has a thick consistency, and during the initial uses, it may make your lashes appear overly dramatic, resembling Tammy Faye's style. However, a simple solution is to wipe the wand slightly before application. After a few uses, the product seems to improve, possibly due to air entering the tube, and it becomes truly remarkable. In fact, my lashes receive compliments from strangers because of how good they look with this mascara. There's no smudging, flaking, or brittle lashes - it's simply fantastic. Thrive Causemetics mascara is truly amazing... until it's not.
Unfortunately, after approximately 6-9 weeks, the mascara loses its initial allure and becomes rather ordinary. Eventually, it becomes clumpy, flaky, and unappealing. The transition happens so gradually that you may question whether that month of awesomeness was just a lucky occurrence. However, it's not. Just last week, I purchased my second tube of Liquid Lash Extensions, and once again, my lashes are fabulous and attracting compliments from strangers.
Thrive Causemetics Review of the Buildable Blur CC Cream SPF 35
After running out of my current foundation, I made the decision to give Thrive Causemetics a try. The lower price, higher SPF, and stronger ethical values made it seem like a much more appealing option. I took a chance and ordered the shade I thought would match, but unfortunately, it turned out to be far too pale for my complexion. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I visited their website to initiate an exchange. Not only was I able to return the wrong shade free of charge, but I also received the correct shade before they even received my return!
Unlike a tinted moisturizer, this foundation has a thicker consistency, similar to a thick foundation but not as opaque. Just one light pump is enough to cover my entire face. I usually pump it onto the back of my hand, lightly tap my finger into it, and then apply dots all over my face. I then blend it in using a synthetic brush.
If I desire more coverage in certain areas, I'll use my fingers or a Beauty Blender to apply an extra layer. Even with just one light pump, the foundation provides coverage while still allowing my skin to show through. If I want a more opaque finish, I can simply add more product without worrying about it becoming cakey.
I have fairly normal skin, with some dryness on my cheeks and along my jawline, as well as oiliness in my T-zone. The Thrive Causemetics CC Cream is a great match for my skin, as it doesn't flake or slide off throughout the day. It seems to sit on the skin better than many other foundations, without emphasizing my pores or disappearing over time. To prevent creasing, I set it with a small brush and Fenty powder under my eyes, as well as around my nose to keep it from sliding off or looking greasy.
The packaging of this foundation consists of a tube with a pump and an opaque silver lid. It's quite sturdy, with the cap staying securely in place even when tossed into the bottom of my bag. The tube itself is also strong and durable. With 18 shades to choose from, Thrive Causemetics offers a decent range of options. Considering that their formulas are designed to adjust to your skin tone, it's commendable that they cater to both light and dark shades, as well as cool and warm undertones.
I have a positive opinion about this product, although my level of enthusiasm is not as high as it is for the mascara. I might consider buying it again when I run out, but only if there isn't a new and appealing product that catches my attention or receives high ratings from someone I trust.
Thrive Causemetics Review of the Brilliant Eye Brightener
I haven't fully embraced the highlighter trend. I'm not a fan of having a glowing nose like Rudolph (or Ariana) and I feel like it can actually make my skin look older, especially since I'm over 40. However, I do occasionally use a bit of highlighter on my cheeks under my foundation. I swear by a blurring/tinted moisturizer/luminizer combo, but that's as far as I go with highlighter.
Initially, I wasn't interested in the Brilliant Eye Brightener until my friend Tammy raved about it. I also came across numerous reviews from women over 40 who claimed it was a gamechanger. So, in order to qualify for free shipping, I decided to give it a try and ordered the Stella (Champagne Shimmer) shade.
Yet, I still don't quite understand the hype. Maybe I need a tutorial on how to apply it properly? I've tried dabbing it in the inner corners of my eyes, under my brow bone, along my waterline, and... well, it tends to clump a bit. I blend it to avoid clumps, but then it becomes nearly invisible. I've experimented with it, but I'm just not sure if I'm the right customer for this product. If you're a fan and have found success with it, I would appreciate it if you could share your application techniques in the comments. As of now, it's just sitting unused in my dressing table drawer.
Thrive Causemetics Review of the Headliner Lipstick
The first time I purchased the mascara, I needed to add something else to my cart in order to qualify for free shipping. That's when I decided to give their lipstick a try. It was during the winter season, and their shade called 'Emii' caught my eye with its plum mauve color, which seemed perfect for the time of year. Now, I am the proud owner of two of these lipsticks - one for my dressing table and one for my purse. It has become my go-to everyday color, replacing NARS 'Pigalle'. While 'Pigalle' is fantastic, it has a matte finish, and lately, I've been wanting a bit of shine on my lips to make them appear fuller and more hydrated.
This lipstick offers a similar cool neutralized shade that enhances the natural color of your lips, but it is slightly darker and has a touch more plum. It also provides a subtle shine and a delicate luster. The case is magnetized, ensuring that the cap stays securely in place even if it accidentally falls to the bottom of your bag. The formula is not exceptionally long-lasting or super hydrating, but it is a classic lipstick that won't vanish after a cup of coffee and won't leave your lips feeling dry.
Since I enjoyed 'Emii' so much, I decided to order another shade called 'Ilene', which is described as a pink taupe. Unfortunately, it didn't quite suit my preferences as it had too much of a coral-pink undertone. However, I am so impressed with this formula that I would be willing to try another color in the future.
Thrive Causemetics Review of the Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lipliner
I purchased this item along with the gloss mentioned below in preparation for the upcoming summer season. A glossy lip and flushed cheeks are my go-to look for summer, so I wanted to see if Thrive Causemetics could replace my usual Wet n' Wild 666 and my current favorite, Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow.
I opted for the shade 'Jesse' in the lip pencil, which is described as a pale rose ginger. It perfectly matches the color of my lips. Applying it to just half of one lip makes it virtually undetectable. While it's great for preventing lip color from bleeding, it's not ideal for adding color to your lips.
The lip pencil glides on smoothly, feels comfortable, and is of high quality. However, it doesn't offer any groundbreaking benefits in terms of longevity, plumping, hydration, or other lip product claims. Although it claims to plump the lips, I haven't noticed any significant difference. Priced at $20, if the color matches your lips perfectly, it might be worth it for the sleek packaging, comfortable feel, and absence of harmful ingredients. Personally, I'm not a big fan of lip liners, and this product hasn't changed my opinion on them.
Thrive Causemetics Review of the Glossy Lip Hydrating Serum
I purchased the ‘Ruth' (taupe shimmer) shade of this product with the hope that it would serve as a dupe for the Fenty Gloss Bomb, which I regularly use both on its own and over lipsticks (it works well with shades ranging from ‘Pigalle' to vibrant reds). However, it is important to note that this product is not in the same category. It does not function as a traditional lip gloss, but rather as a serum. It is less sticky and more hydrating, maintaining a glossy and serum-like appearance on the lips instead of drying to a matte finish.
Due to its serum-like nature, it does not have the longevity to last throughout the entire day. However, it fades away gently, leaving a soft balm finish on the lips. I have tried applying it over a lip fully filled with lip liner, on its own, and over lipstick. Personally, I appreciate the formula, especially during the summer season. It provides hydration, glossiness, without feeling sticky or heavy. Additionally, it has the ability to make thin lips appear fuller and does not cause bleeding.
I have discovered that the product lasts the longest when applied over lips that have been fully filled in with a lip liner. I apply one layer, wait for a minute, and then apply another layer on top. This method seems to make the product adhere better and last longer.
The only drawback I have encountered is that the ‘Ruth' shade is exactly the same color as my natural lips. When applied, it appears as if I have just applied Carmex, providing a glossy finish but no change in tint. When applied over other lip colors, it imparts the same shine and offers a nude-ish tint (making reds appear slightly more coral and pinks less candy-like, for example), but this is not what I am specifically seeking. I have found that the Fenty Gloss Bomb provides a greater difference in color and a more pronounced shine and shimmer. Therefore, I intend to try this product in a brighter or deeper shade, as I believe it could be a product I will love if it matches my desired color.
Thrive Causemetics Review Summary
While I have tried various products in the past, I consistently find that Thrive Causemetics offers top-notch products with premium packaging that justify their price tags. The customer feedback on their website is valuable, and I also appreciate their hassle-free exchange policy.
When I need to restock on beauty items, my first choice is usually Thrive Causemetics due to their reliable quality. Some have inquired about their eyeliner, but since I don't use pencil eyeliner, I won't be purchasing that. However, I am looking forward to trying out their brow products once I finish my current ones.
